Caregivers of Stroke Survivors - Free Online Support Group

Alisha Duvall May 11, 2017

Did you know that we have a stroke support group on Facebook that you can join for free?

We are so happy to offer the genuine support our members offer to each other every day.

We strive to answer questions, listen to each other’s venting, and of course celebrate each other’s successes that occur on their the road to recovery.

If you’d like to join the conversation, click here to join the support group.

Support Is Everything

During stroke recovery, support is everything.

We started this group so you can get that support from others who are in the same situation as you. We have members from every stage on the recovery journey. This gives you the ability to connect with others right where you are and those who have been there and can support you through their experiences – and that is even better.

It’s fantastic that technology allows us to connect with others who are in walks along the recovery journey. At times during recovery it can be difficult to make it to local support meetings and our mission is to work to make sure everyone has access to the support and resources they need.

Face-to-face support groups in Kentuckiana can be found at http://www.strokekyin.org/support-groups/

You Are Not Alone

Support groups are a great place to be heard, vent, and ask for advice.

Common questions that get asked are, “Should it be taking this long to regain back what I lost in the stroke?” Or, “How did you get through this time of recovery?” Or, “Here’s my story.” And our members have always met request for support with a warm welcome.

Join Us on Our Mission

Facebook groups are free to join.

KSISA Blog

In the U.S., stroke is the 5th leading cause of death in the elderly population. Kentucky and Indiana have been identified as being in the “Stroke Belt” – a group of states in the southeastern U.S. with a higher incidence of stroke than the rest of the nation – due to a number of different environmental and lifestyle factors including smoking, high blood pressure, cholesterol levels, etc., and a lack of understanding in how to reduce or eliminate known risk factors, so time is of the essence!
